Although I like the HHKBeeb's ECMA-23 bit-paired layout in theory, in practice it's super annoying to switch between it and my laptop's more normal layout
Reminds me that a few years back I spent some time working on Ben's Econet file server project in order to get it good enough to run all my old Beeb programs that I'd kept from school. In the course of that I discovered that although my fingers usually expect to find * above 8 in the normal way, as soon as I'm typing a MOS * Command (whether at a MOS command line or just in text-based discussions), then a long-buried reflex activates that suddenly makes me expect * to be two keys to the right of L, because my muscles had remembered the finger shapes of all the * Commands rather than the individual characters making them up :-)
